Completed Projects

  • DoD 5G Prototyping & Experimentation: System Engineering support to design, prototype, experiment and test 5G solutions for multi-service support-Smart Warehousing, Virtual Training, and Frequency Management.

  • Brilliant Effect Employment Shadow (BEES): System testing and evaluation for swarming unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations for global strike.

  • Freedom of Movement in Global Ops (DOMINGO): Sense and Avoid (SAA) capability for Group 4/5 UAVs (MQ-9 Reapr, RQ-4 Global Hawk).

  • Advanced Weapons Enhanced by Submarine UAS Against Mobile Targets (AWESUM): Submarine-launched unmanned aerial system providing submarines with other-the-horizon intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance coupled with kinetic strike capability.

  • KNIFE: Information system that combined legacy with emerging kinetic and non-kinetic force effects database and analysis systems.

  • Joint Medical Distance Support & Extraction (JMDSE) and Joint Precision Air Drop System (JPADS): Autonomous precision airdrop/combat casualty care system, including precision guided air delivery pallet with advanced tele-medical combat casualty care system dropped from high altitude to the point of injury.

Other Work

Prior Industry Experience:

Directed two dozen prototype engineering efforts for Department of Defense spanning early concept development through prototype demonstration, informing later research-oriented approaches to complex system design and experimentation.

Military Experience:

Project and operational management roles supporting the Predator (MQ-1) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and the RQ-4 Global Hawk development programs.

The following experience predates the founding of Rigel Science and provides professional context for the applied research and systems-level work described elsewhere on this site.
